Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Manager.
This position will utilize CAD systems to generate designs for piece parts, component assemblies, testing equipment, and layouts.
This position converts CAD models and assemblies into detail drawings that include all dimensions, tolerancing and notes necessary for repetitive manufacturing.
This individual will produce simple, accurate, and cost-effective documentation for fabrication and assembly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Uses computer aided design/drafting software to develop designs.
Creates, maintains and makes revisions to Solid Works models on production drawings (component part, layout, and assembly drawings) that include detailed multi-views and critical details with all necessary dimensions.
Generates piece parts, weldments and assemblies of proposed designs in appropriate 2D and 3D CAD system, checks dimension of parts, material to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
Utilizes knowledge of various manufacturing principles, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and physical sciences to complete detailed designs and drawings.
Weldment drawings will show weld symbols, size, and location of welds.
Location of parts listed in BOM and critical dimensions will be identified.
Supportive referenced dimensioning will be utilized for verifying accuracy and quality of weldment for production and quality personnel.
First Article of Inspections BOM maintenance, job order entry and verification Assists in creating, testing and evaluating prototypes and production components for performance and durability.
Issues work orders to designated departments to be manufactured.
Creates and maintains drafting standards utilizing appropriate company guidelines that incorporate OSHA and ANSI.
Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file system for all Production Drawings.
Prepares and enters into an ERP system the Bills of Materials, Production Versions, Engineering Change Notice, and requests Purchase Orders.
Checks documentation for compliance with internal Aluma KLM standards.
Communicates effectively and professionally with Purchasing, QA, Engineering, Maintenance, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised designs or drawings and submits designs to suppliers for a quote.
Responsible for building prototype parts utilizing the appropriate 2D and 3D drawings and assisting engineers with prototype construction and sample builds.
Able to complete projects with limited supervision.
Verify dimension and material for parts and assemblies.
Adhere to Engineering Standard Practices, Lean Principles, company policy and guidelines for attendance and safety.
Maintain retention of master production drawings.
Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Contribute to design process and recommend possible solutions.
Works closely with R&D, Production lines, Assembly, FAB, Mill and Saw leaders, as well as dealers, suppliers, and customers on details of product solutions on what problems may arise.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills Requirements Knowledge of Solid Works and manual drafting practices and techniques.
Maintain documentation control using ECN, ECR, ERP and EPDM software.
Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
Demonstrates ability to meet timelines and prioritize work requirements.
Produces the required amount of work required of the position.
Quality of Work - Performs work according to requirements with regard to appearance, quality, completeness, etc.

Education Requirements The skills, knowledge, and abilities usually acquired through the completion of an Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Aided Design and Drafting along with five years' experience in the workplace.
