Job Summary:
The Packager packages eggs and egg products including filling equipment operation and proper labeling, date code and lot tracking, ensuring finished product quality and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
The individual will be responsible for building pallets of packaged products.
This position performs sanitation and minor maintenance of packaging and labeling equipment, maintains cleanliness of work area and readiness of machinery and building.
Must be able to safely lift 30 – 60 pound boxes constantly during course of shift.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Stock and sort product for packaging or filling and replenish packaging supplies
Packaging product in boxes and/or in bags
Packing boxes in dryer
Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams and report malfunctions to manager/supervisor/maintenance (NOTE: This would require Lock Out Tag Out training/certification)
Inspect, remove defective packaging material, place to a safe side and communicate defect to supervisor
Start machine by engaging controls
Assist with training of additional packagers
Package product in the form in which it will be sent out
Record all information per training when applicable
Attach identification labels to finished packaged items
Clean packaging containers and prepare for product packing
Perform quality activities, training sessions and employee activity teams when needed
Follow company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety programs
Backup:
A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies; refer to Rembrandt Foods site-specific facility back-up matrix on file.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
Knowledge of production process, quality control and personal services
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their maintenance
Ability to read basic English labels
Ability to follow all safety and quality policies and procedures
Ability to see details at close range
Ability to recognize that there is a problem at hand and report to supervisor/manager
Control Precision: ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without distractions
Static Strength: ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects
Reaction time: ability to respond to signals when necessary
Lift, stack and place boxes weighing up to 60 pound boxes
Preferred:
Knowledge and Understanding of HAACP and SQF Certification
Bilingual: Spanish
Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to work on a fast paced line
